Lies, Lies, and Still More Lies From the Lame Stream Media; Why It’s Time for All of Us to Push Back

Twenty Four Injustices That The Mainstream Media (still) Won’t Discuss

by Minister Paul J. Bern

truth infuriates liars

During the days of Nazi Germany from the early 1930’s up to the mid-’40’s, there was a branch of the German government called “The Ministry of Propaganda” that dished out a torrent of profane distortions about Jewish people, and later about the progress of the war itself. It was headed by a guy named Joseph Goebbels, who committed suicide at the end of the war rather than face capture, which would surely have been followed by a death sentence at the Nuremberg Trials.

Today in America, we have a similar position within the White House staff that we call the Press Secretary, who can be seen regularly on the evening news. He or she serves the same function, they just have a far more innocuous title than “Propaganda Minister”. This person’s job – and I have noticed regular personnel changes — is to spoon-feed the media the information dujoir of the day. Everybody knows that the media is told what to say and how to say it, and yet there a few protests about it. Frankly, I find this puzzling. So today’s message, in light of the ongoing events involving police shootings of unarmed black men, is my small contribution towards demanding some truth from our news sources. No more US Government propaganda please, uncle Sam, we have all had a belly full already!

For decades, the mainstream media in the United States was accustomed to being able to tell the American people what to think and how to think it. Unfortunately for them, a whole lot of Americans are starting to break free from that paradigm as they begin to think for themselves. The reason can be summed up in two words – information technology. A Gallup survey from 2014 found that over 70 percent of all Americans “have little or no trust” in the mainstream media. More people than ever are realizing that the mainstream media is giving them a very distorted version of the truth (“Truth? You can’t handle the truth!”), and they are increasingly seeking out alternative sources of information.

In the United States today, just 6 giant media corporations control the vast majority of the mainstream media. Those giant media corporations own television networks, cable channels, movie studios, radio stations, newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, music labels and even many prominent websites. But now, thanks to the Internet, the mainstream media no longer has a complete monopoly on the news. In recent years the “alternative media” has exploded in popularity. People want to hear about, or see the things that the mainstream media doesn’t really want to talk about. They want to hear news that is not filtered by corporate bosses and government censors. They are hungry and thirsty for some real truth, and they know that they are not getting it from the mainstream media. Jesus once taught about truthfulness when he said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (Matthew chapter 5, verse 6)

If only they knew Jesus as I do. They wouldn’t be hungry and thirsty any more (see scriptural quote just above). But, that’s another sermon by itself so I will keep going for now. But this is also one of the primary reasons why people are doing away with cable TV as I have. It’s not just the money saved from unsubscribing to cable TV, it’s the fact that everybody knows everything they are watching is a load of B.S., and they’re sick and tired of it!

We are watching a media revolution happen, and many in the mainstream media today are totally freaking out about it. In fact, some in the mainstream media have even begun publishing articles that mock the American people for not trusting them. For example, a 2015 CNN article entitled “Still ‘Paranoid’ After All These Years” portrayed Americans that don’t trust the media as paranoid conspiracy theorists that have left rationality behind. Ever have the feeling you’re being lied to by the news media, the authorities, and/or the corporate world? That somebody — or something — is out to get you? You’re not alone. Welcome to 21st century America.

Look around. Trust is hitting historic lows. Less than 15% of Americans have a favorable view of the federal government, a decline of 31% since 2002, according to the Pew Center for People and the Press. Gallup has Congress’ approval rating down in the low teens, after nearing single digits in the summer of 2013. And the news media aren’t much better off. “Negative opinions about the performance of news organizations now equal or surpass all-time highs on nine of 12 core measures the Pew Research Center has been tracking since 1985,” a Pew report said last summer. The article went on to make it sound like it is very irrational not to trust the media, but in this day and age it is imperative that we all learn to think for ourselves. Blindly trusting someone else to do your thinking for you (done usually out of laziness) is very, very dangerous.

Anyone who does not acknowledge that the mainstream media has an agenda is either not being honest with themselves, or they are complicit with the powers that control it. The mainstream media presents a view of the world that is very favorable to their big corporate owners and the big corporations that spend billions of dollars to advertise on their networks. The mainstream media is the mouthpiece of the ‘establishment’, and the world view being pushed on the big networks is going to be consistent with the economic, financial, political and social goals of that same ‘establishment’. The mainstream media loves to talk about things that fit with that agenda, and they don’t like to talk about things that suggest that there is something wrong with that agenda. And so here are 24 facts that the mainstream media doesn’t really want to talk about right now, in no particular order of importance (because they’re ALL important!):

#1) The mainstream media doesn’t really want to talk about the fact that gun sales are absolutely skyrocketing all over America. Revolution, anyone?

#2) They also don’t really want to talk about the fact that disarming the population has resulted in some of the most horrific massacres in human history.

  • 1911 – Turkey disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1915 – 1917 they murdered 1.5 million Turkish Armenians.

  • 1929 – Russia disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1929 – 1953 they murdered 20 million Russians.

  • 1935 – China disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1948 – 1952 they murdered 20 million Chinese.

  • 1938 – Germany disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1939 – 1945 they murdered 15 million Jews.

  • 1956 – Cambodia disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1975 – 1977 they murdered 1 million of its most educated citizens..

  • 1964 – Guatemala disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1964 – 1981 they murdered 100,000 Mayan Indians.

  • 1970 – Uganda disarmed it’s citizens, and between 1971 – 1979 they murdered 300,000 Christians.

#3) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that a bill allowing for the “indefinite military detention of US citizens on American soil” has already been passed by the U.S. Senate and signed into law by president Obama. Never mind that it’s completely unconstitutional (see the Bill of Rights 4th amendment, among other places in the US Constitution).

#4) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that volcanoes all along the Pacific ocean’s Ring of Fire are roaring to life. It seems like a new eruption is being reported every few days now. In fact, a red alert has been issued for a massive volcano that sits along the border between Chile and Argentina, as well as for the super-volcano at Yellowstone National Park. An eruption there could devastate much of North America, killing millions.

#5) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that the use of genetically engineered seeds has caused an explosion of new “super weeds” that are incredibly difficult for farmers to kill. Wow, thanks Monsanto, for aiding and abetting the destruction of the Earth!

#6) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that renowned trends forecaster Gerald Celente is predicting a “financial disaster” somewhere between September 2020 to as late as 2030, but no later and more likely sooner.

#7) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that it is easier to get into Harvard than it is to get a job as a flight attendant in America today.

#8) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that nearly 400 TSA employees have been fired for stealing from travelers since 2003. Our tax dollars hard at work. Nice.

#9) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that giant corporations such as Amazon and Facebook are funneling gigantic amounts of money through offshore banking havens such as the Cayman Islands in an effort to avoid taxes. All the while, the IRS looks the other way.

#10) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that the U.S. dollar is in real danger of losing its status as the primary reserve currency of the world. It’s no longer a question of if this might occur, but when. A financial calamity would surely follow. China and Russia are buying up all the world’s gold and silver reserves. What does that tell you about their view of the US dollar? Uh-huh.

#11) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that the mainstream media always keeps track of what the president does, when in actuality they should be doing a much better job keeping track of Wall Street speculators, their bankers, and all their filthy lucre.

#12) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that there are government websites that give immigrants instructions about how to come over to our country illegally and then apply for SNAP benefits while formerly middle class American workers and their children starve for lack of work. Yes, America has always been a nation of immigrants, but never before at the expense of any of its citizens. Something is very wrong here (BTW, I don’t blame the immigrants. They are economic refugees from the third world).

#13) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that the U.S. economy is losing millions of jobs to nations where it is legal to pay workers slave labor wages. Actually, this process has already started in the US as well, due to the fact that no one can live on a minimum wage paycheck. The mainstream media is totally married to the one world economic agenda that their corporate owners make so much money from, and so they say nothing as a steady stream of businesses and jobs continue to leave our country.

#14) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that hunger and poverty are absolutely exploding in the United States while they continue to tell us that the economy is “recovering”. Although the Corona-virus is shouldering most of the blame, it’s actually the fault of the federal government for allowing extreme economic inequality to persist. This is nothing less than a ticking time bomb for the vast majority of us, with the top 1% being the only exception. Meaning, the top 1% will be the main target when the real revolution begins.

#15) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that North Korea now has a three-stage rocket with enough range to potentially hit the western United States.

#16) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that the United States Postal Service is losing 25 million dollars a day and is on the verge of financial collapse.

#17) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that our biggest oil supplier in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, still kills people for changing religions.

#18) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that political correctness has taken over America. The truth is that the media does not see any problem with that at all.

#19) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that nearly half a million employees of the federal government are making more than $100,000 a year.

#20) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that the birth rate in the United States has fallen to an all-time low. The elite are absolutely thrilled that less babies are being born. Fewer of us means less competition for them.

#21) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that violent crime in the United States increased by 18 percent annually since 2014, and that many major U.S. cities are seeing violent crime totally spiral out of control. (think Chicago, Baltimore, Los Angeles, and to a somewhat lesser extent in my own hometown of Atlanta.)

#22) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that Barack Obama received more than 99 percent of the vote in more than 100 precincts in Ohio on election day in 2012.

#23) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that during the first four years of the Obama administration, the U.S. national debt grew by about as much as it did from the time that George Washington took office to the time that George W. Bush took office.

#24) They don’t really want to talk about the fact that the Federal Reserve created the conditions for the 2008 financial crisis, and their mismanagement of the economy has now brought us to the verge of another horrible economic downturn. According to the mainstream media, the Federal Reserve is “above politics” and should not be criticized. Maybe the Federal Reserve should be nationalized so that printing and coining money returns to the auspices of the US Treasury like our Constitution specifies (See article 1 section 8). All the US top-tier leadership needs to do is return to the original Constitution. It’s the perfect way to wipe out the so-called national debt. Because America’s so-called “national debt” is a boatload of financial B.S.

The Differences Between Human Trafficking and Slavery, and What the Bible Says About it

It Has Been Reported That There Are Over 40 Million Slaves Throughout the World. But There Are Far More Economic Slaves Than That, and Many of Them Don’t Even Realize It

(Matt. 20, verse 27; 2nd Peter 2, verse 19;

Romans 6, verse 22)

by Minister Paul J. Bern

Since I have already mentioned the presidential impeachment circus in Washington DC last week, and wrote about it at length the week before, I will not be revisiting that topic anytime soon. But there has been another topic that is disguised under the turmoil of Washington politics as being something potentially dangerous to the point of being explosive. That other topic is economic inequality, which is currently at greater levels than at any other time in human history. And so today I will be comparing two different kinds of slaves. One is a victim of human trafficking, such as those forced into the sex trade or into indentured servitude.

The other kind are those who are in economic servitude, whether they realize it or not. These are working people who make under $35,000.00 per year. Arguably speaking, that number could be made to include everyone making less than $50,000.00. At any rate, if your monthly take-home pay is insufficient to pay your bills on time, and especially if your income is insufficient to meet your monthly obligations, you are a slave. If your take-home pay won’t even take you home, you are an economic slave. While this fact is nearly unbearable for many, bear it we must. That’s why this week’s commentary is directed at you, my readers. You who hold down 2 jobs, all you students of all ages who have jobs while they train for a new field of endeavor. I want you all to know that I’ve been where you’re at, and there is a new day soon coming that will be a great relief to multitudes. This means an end to economic inequality and the raw greed that has driven it. Allow me to quote from an article that originated in the Lame Stream Media, but which is still relevant more than 2 years later:

40 million slaves in the world, finds new report

By Mark Tutton, CNN

September 19, 2017

Story highlights

  • Report estimates number of victims of modern slavery in 2016
  • 25 million people in forced labor, 15 million forced marriage
  • International Labor Organization and the Walk Free Foundation produced the report

London (CNN) More than 40 million people were estimated to be victims of modern slavery in 2016 – and one in four of those were children.

Those are the findings of a new report produced by the International Labor Organization (ILO), a U.N. agency focusing on labor rights, and the Walk Free Foundation, an international NGO working to end modern slavery.

The report estimates that last year, 25 million people were in forced labor – made to work under threat or coercion – and 15 million people were in forced marriage.

More on modern slavery, from The CNN Freedom Project

It’s impossible to know exactly how many people are living in modern slavery, and different studies have produced different estimates. One reason is that modern slavery is a hidden crime that’s difficult to identify. Another is that different studies use different definitions of slavery, with some including forced marriage, for example, and others not…..

By this point it’s likely occurred to you all that, while reprehensible for its gross immorality and its contempt for humanity, slavery doesn’t seem to be anything I’ve heard about in church before. Who would preach about modern slavery in the early 21st century, and in church? Or those who are mainly in cyberspace like myself? The Bible has a lot of things about slavery contained between its covers, such as 2nd Peter chapter 2 verse 19, “They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity – for ‘people are slaves to whatever has mastered them’.” How should we view this in modern terms? It should be viewed in terms of addiction at the very least. Suppose we are up to our eyeballs in debt. At the very least, we are slaves to our credit cards (student loans are excluded here on the grounds they are predatory loans). The same thing goes for that expensive model car you’re driving that’s keeping you broke. Or your drug habit, or your porn addiction, or your sexual fetishes and fantasies that exist only between your ears where no one can see them, like hiding them in plain sight. If any of this stuff is in your life, you’re a slave, and it’s up to you to do something about it. I know these words will be hard to read for some, but still this is necessary because it’s my job as a minister to point these things out.

Jesus Christ had something to say about this issue of who is greater or lesser than another. In Matthew’s gospel chapter 20, we find Jesus interjecting himself into a dispute among the apostles as to who would be the greatest for posterity’s sake (their thinking at this point had not yet mastered the teachings of our Lord and Savior). Look how Christ responded: “23) Jesus said to them, ‘You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.’ 24) When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers. 25) Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26) Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27) and whoever wants to be first must be your slave….”

If Jesus were to return today, everything for the most part would begin to run in reverse of the way the world has things arranged. I realize this will be hard for some to imagine, but we must do precisely that as a unified people if we can ever have any hope of breaking out of the economic chains that bind us. So if you want to become the most valuable worker at your employer, or at your business, make yourself the biggest slave or the greatest servant. Nothing less will do in the eyes of Christ, so let’s all get busy finding someone who needs help the most and start with them. We can all make the world a better place if we spurn competition and embrace cooperation.

For my third example of slavery in today’s world, let’s take a quick peek at the writings of the apostle Paul, who wrote in Romans 6 verse 22, “But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.” So if you are content with nothing less, or if you are driven to have, nothing but the highest standards of being slaves to Jesus Christ, he and he alone can deliver what we need in return for our unending devotion to the Son of God. “Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26) Not so with you….” Does everyone see this, as I close? The difference between those who want to be the greatest, as opposed to the ones accumulating the most of all the world’s wealth plus that of millions more, is their faith and belief in Jesus Christ (or not). Because when we do this, we will make ourselves servants of the Prince of Peace.

President Trump’s Possible Impeachment and the 94th Psalm

Our Ridiculous Governmental Infighting,

Particularly the ‘Impeach Trump’ Circus,

and What Psalm 94 Has to Say About It

by Minister Paul J. Bern

It is a feeling of deja-vu throughout the US as we continue to look on in disbelief at all the jockeying for position and politicking that is now occurring in Washington, DC. The Democrats want to impeach Trump, which is all they’ve tried to accomplish since 2016 when they were elected or reelected to public office. Prior to this, for the entire 8 years that Barack Obama was president, the Republicans were trying to have him impeached. So Congress has spent the last ten+ years trying to get the opposing party’s president thrown out of office while the country’s business has been left unattended.

Let me point our before I go any further that this posting is apolitical. I didn’t vote for Donald Trump in 2016, and I didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton either. So this posting isn’t about the Trump presidency or American politics, it’s about applying a sense of morality, decency and humility to the political scene, not just in the US, but globally. But this sense of morality, decency and humility needs to start with the US since we are (allegedly) the leading country in the world. How can we as Americans make such a claim when we are the world’s #1 source for wars, weapons, and pornography, in no particular order? Based on that alone, I would say America has fallen from grace as far as God is concerned.

The prophets of old, whose word is still just as good as it was thousands of years ago, had quite a bit to say about this. Governments that oppress the people at home while waging military campaigns abroad that have killed millions since the end of World War 2, are in danger of final judgment, and this does not bode well for America. Let me share what the prophet David said and wrote about these issues about 3,000 years ago from the 94th Psalm. “1) The Lord is a God who avenges. O God who avenges, shine forth. 2) Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve. 3) How long, Lord, will the wicked, how long will the wicked be jubilant? 4) They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting. 5) They crush your people, Lord; they oppress your inheritance. 6) They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless. 7) They say, ‘The Lord does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice.’ 8) Take notice, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?” (Psalm 94, verses1-9)

OK, let’s break this down one verse at a time. Verse 1 says, “The Lord is a God who avenges.” This means he is a God who upholds the weak and vulnerable, the widow and the orphan, the alien and the homeless, and the sick and disabled. It is the rich who are taking all of the above groups of people to court, or causing some of them to become homeless, knowing full well the poor people (and there’s a lot of us these days) don’t have the means to put up a meaningful and robust defense. So we can deduce that prison and jail overcrowding are due to rich people locking up the poor. “3) How long, Lord, will the wicked, how long will the wicked be jubilant? 4) They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting. 5) They crush your people, Lord; they oppress your inheritance.” These mega-rich ‘elites’ are proud at how well they have ‘everything under control’ as they micro-manage our lives down to the tiniest detail while they tax us into poverty. Wages are at record lows, with take-home pay running at 1980-like levels, and the tension between those who govern or enforce the rules and the overwhelming majority of the population hasn’t been this bad since the 1960’s. The entire planet is rife for revolt against the rich. It’s called ‘economic inequality’.

6) They slay the widow and the foreigner; they murder the fatherless….” They slaughter the most vulnerable people because they are the easiest to kill. Our police officers shoot down black teens in the streets who are already growing up without fathers to properly guide them. That’s because their fathers fell victim to poverty and homelessness, and they eventually died before their time or were imprisoned during their prime of life. So where are their mothers? Working three jobs so she and her kids don’t have to be homeless. And what about foreigners? We take their kids away at the borders, and in so doing we traumatize both parent and child alike. Such trauma can often last a lifetime. These minions of the government are arrogant and abusive beyond description, as it is written: “7) They say, ‘The Lord does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice.’ 8) Take notice, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?” God is so fed up with these Hitler-like wannabe’s, who are plundering the earth and its people like we are here only for target practice for themselves.

But if we embrace the Lord Almighty instead of being preoccupied with the world and all its troubles, he will rise to our defense, as it says further down, starting at verse 14: “14) For the Lord will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance. 15) Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it. 16) Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers? 17) Unless the Lord had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.” (Psalms 94, verses 14-17) In verse 14, we are God’s inheritance since he has made heaven and earth already. He made us last, according to Genesis chapter 1 in the Old Testament 15) Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.” This verse means that the systemic corruption in the governmental and business sectors will be wiped out, and the perpetrators of this scheme will be brought to justice. This means us. This means right now.

16) Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?” The Lord Jesus wants all his true believers and followers to go out there in the world and make a strong statement and a cunning strategic attack against the wicked rich money worshipers, who value their assets more than the human beings who manage them for a pittance of a salary. And now let’s conclude this week’s message from Psalm 94. “20) Can a corrupt throne be allied with you – a throne that brings on misery by its decrees? 21) The wicked band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death. 22) But the Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. 23) He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the Lord our God will destroy them.” (Psalms 94, verses 20-23)

What was King David writing about in verse 20? A “corrupt throne” is exactly how it sounds – governments, businesses and institutions of higher learning as well as religious organizations, whose sole reason for existing is to milk their customers or members for every penny they can collect. You know, just like organized crime, just as it says in verse 21? “The wicked band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.” You know, like our courts systems and our military? “22) But the Lord has become my fortress…. (23) He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness….” I would encourage you all to make yourselves like David did. Make God your own private fortress. If the mega-rich can build deep underground shelters, then you can build a shelter that will withstand any attack from any enemy, seen or unseen. Whether you enemies are physical in nature with flesh and blood like yourselves, or whether they are spiritual and invisible, your faith in God can and will save you.

But God doesn’t stop there: God will destroy your enemies for their utterly wicked nature, such as those who impose student loans that can never be repaid so their “clients” (victims) remain buried under a mountain of debt for their entire lives. He punishes the dealerships who sell cars and trucks that wear out before the loans can be repaid. Some of them go out of business, and deservedly so. Criminals, particularly the violent ones, as well as the suit-and-tie crooks at the so-called “Federal Reserve” and on Wall St., usually get their punishment later (such as the current impeachment hearings in Washington) rather than sooner (like drug offenders and car thieves, who face justice relatively quickly). I’m not taking any sides here, I’m just making some observations. God, however, is always on the right side of things. As creator of the universe, it’s God’s prerogative to make sure that justice, mercy and righteousness always prevail. Then he sent us his only Son, Jesus Christ, to seal the deal. And seal it he did, settling these matters for all eternity, and saving our souls eternally in the process.

WOULD YOU PLAY A GAME OF MONOPOLY THAT WAS UNFAIR, AND PEOPLE WERE ALLOWED TO CHEAT? Capitalism is the equivalent of asking people to join a game of monopoly that has been going on for decades, and 1 of the 4 players has accumulated 90% of the games wealth.

And someday soon it will end, when everyone else goes bankrupt or when the person that is winning decides not to feed the other players some scraps to keep the game going anymore.

While the game is going, what if the 1 wealthy person showed favoritism to his friends while affording them credit and a larger share of the scraps, in-turn buying their friendship in order to maintain the power and controlling interest of the game?

Oh, and one last thing – you have to start the game $50,000 in debt for tuition fees. But, you’re still not done yet in this hypothetical Monopoly game…..

You know? Because, you see, there are also the real land owners, who think that they can own the land of this world, while inflating the price and conniving others to buy into this insanity! God gave its garden to all of us equally, for free, as it is written, “God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground‘” …Genesis 1, verse 28)

YOU CAN’T OWN WHAT IS NOT YOURS. You could be the custodian of it, which is the responsibility of all of us. Or, in some cases you may be the Lord’s tenant, but after that it goes back to the people (see Deuteronomy 15, verses 1-11).

Someday all those who enslaved others by forcing this losing game upon God’s people, will pay a high price for their actions. Just as you’re judged on what you do, while you were here. Not what you did or gave away upon dying. AFFIRMED

People have also forgotten the original purpose of money. When the world comes to see money as a way to measure ones work or service to another, and not just as a means of exchange and worth, the cries of the hungry shall be vanquished from our planet.

There should never be a lack of available currency as there never seems to be a shortage of yardsticks, rulers and tape measures, when it comes to measuring distance. And, one day we may find that all the measuring devices are in the possession of the corporations, and there wasn’t anything left for the people anymore.

An Economic Reset is Coming, and We Were Warned About It and Told How To Fix It Over 3,000 Years Ago….

The Coming Global Economic Reset and the Promises of God

Deuteronomy chapter 15, verses 1-11

by Minister Paul J. Bern

My topic for this week has to do with what will happen when our capitalist, debt-based economic system runs out of fuel – that is, hard currency. This can get people to question my motivations for preaching and teaching the Word of the Lord with economic issues intermixed with my message. My reason is fairly simple – economic justice and true faith are 2 sides of the same coin. Anyone who professes their “Christianity” and yet gets offended at the very thought of economic justice makes themselves a hypocrite. Sorry if that offends anyone, but not for the reason why. Poor people aren’t poor because they’re lazy, it’s because they are being denied any opportunity to succeed.

But, there is an even bigger problem with capitalism that is coming towards us as I write these words, and that is the very concept of compound interest. Back when I was young, I remember being taught about the “miracle of compound interest”. You know the story Start with one dollar and add a penny’s worth of interest compounded daily, and after 30 years time you would be a millionaire. So a lot of people started doing that, especially after World War 2 ended in 1945. What nobody saw coming at that time took decades to manifest itself. When you get too many governments, people and companies playing the same game, sooner or later the house is going to run out of chips. We are getting precariously close to this point as I write these words. The government’s solution is to print more money, but that will ultimately make things get even worse than they are.

What the overwhelming majority of people today fail to realize is the solution to this economic dilemma is right there in the Bible. It’s been there all long, but people have a tendency to overlook it because it doesn’t fit the paradigm of living in the early 21st century. Contrast life as we know it, which is an ever-rising spiral of financial servitude as we pay down our never-ending debts, to the way debts were handled back in the time of Moses’ leadership. To do this, we must travel back in time to the book of Deuteronomy, which was and is considered to be the fifth and final Book of the Law. Our text for this week will be Deuteronomy chapter 15, beginning at verse 1.

1) At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts. 2) This is how it is to be done: Every creditor shall cancel any loan they have made to a fellow Israelite. They shall not require payment from anyone among their own people, because the Lord’s time for canceling debts has been proclaimed. 3) You may require payment from a foreigner, but you must cancel any debt your fellow Israelite owes you. 4) However, there need be no poor people among you, for in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you, 5) if only you fully obey the Lord your God and are careful to follow all these commands I am giving you today. 6) For the Lord your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.” (Deut. 15, verses 1-6)

As everyone can clearly see in verse 1, the ‘traditional’ 30-year mortgage is a 20th century invention hatched from deep inside the hallowed office towers of Wall St The longest-term loans available under the Law of Moses was 7 years, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that capitalism as it currently exists is sinful. Not that any believers are deliberately sinning. I don’t think that’s the case at all, yet all are being led into sin by our Western economic systems as they currently exist. Verse 2 is pretty self-explanatory. In verse 3, the term “foreigner” means anyone who is a non-Jew, which meant the overwhelming majority of people in that part of the world. Jews were a tiny minority back in those days just like they are now.

The next verses are a warning and an admonition from the Lord to the ancient Israeli’s first, and then the Gentiles – don’t cheat people or take undue advantage of them. “4) However, there need be no poor people among you, for in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you, 5) if only you fully obey the Lord your God and are careful to follow all these commands I am giving you today.” See there? America, and the world that revolves around it, would be in far better shape had we simply obeyed the Book of Deuteronomy. “For the Lord your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none….” This is the United States as it used to be more than 50 years ago, but sadly we have been turned inside out and become the greatest debtor nation. Personally, I’m old enough to remember those times when we were the greatest lender, and they were sure better than what we have now.

OK, so I have 5 verses to go to finish my message for this week, so let’s return to Deuteronomy one more time: “7) If anyone is poor among your fellow Israelites in any of the towns of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward them. 8) Rather, be openhanded and freely lend them whatever they need. 9) Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought: ‘The seventh year, the year for canceling debts, is near,’ so that you do not show ill will toward the needy among your fellow Israelites and give them nothing. They may then appeal to the Lord against you, and you will be found guilty of sin. 10) Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. 11)There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.” (Deut. 15, verses 7-11)

7) If anyone is poor among you…. in any of the towns of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward them. 8) Rather, be openhanded and freely lend them whatever they need.” I’ve said it before and I will once again – there will be no stingy people in heaven. No selfishness, no greed and the complete absence of malice and avarice. It’s our job as Christ followers to live up to this standard, even to the point of emulating Christ by sacrificing our lives to save others. Back in the 1st century AD, there were no government agencies that worked with the poor, there was no retirement, no disability, none of any of that. People worked for as long as they could, and then they usually died or were killed in battle. Life was extremely hard back then, and it was usually fairly short as well.

9) Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought: ‘The seventh year, the year for canceling debts, is near,’ so that you do not show ill will toward the needy among your fellow Israelites and give them nothing. They may then appeal to the Lord against you, and you will be found guilty of sin. 10) Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.” Let no one dare to use this law as a legal maneuver or an accounting method against a business customer or competitor, let alone in a house of worship or other nonprofit NGO.

Those who continue to adhere to this law are duty-bound to be as fair (just) and equitable (even handedness) as they can in all their business dealings and particularly their domestic relationships. Here in the digital age, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to maintain this spiritual state of readiness. One thing is for certain: Adherence to this code of the Spirit will result in an inheritance that is everlasting. On the other hand, refusal to adhere to this Spirit, or to profess disbelief, will result in a damnation that is equally eternal.

Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.” Notice the difference here between the modern mainstream churches and the 3,000-year-old Book of Deuteronomy? When authentic Christians give, we do so expecting nothing in return. Not so with the modern “church”, who teach that to obtain what one needs, one must first give, and with high expectations. But as you just read above in verse 10, quite the opposite is true when put into practice. Yep, it’s counter-intuitive, I know. But the fact remains they have to be put into practice, and in the above sequence, to be effective.

There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.” Poverty is a fact of life, and especially back in the time of Christ the Lord. It’s on us as to how to deal with it. Jesus taught at the Sermon on the Mount, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 5: 3) So there’s your answer. God made the poor, the disabled, the elderly, the mentally ill, convicts, widows and orphans in His own image. The reason we have so many poor people is because too many others have hoarded far more than they need. Either that, or the disadvantaged were denied medical treatments or opportunities to further their education. Many are homeless and in need of shelter. I can’t offer much help in that regard, since I live in my own apartment and don’t own property. But others more prosperous than I could help out. until this economic reset finishes taking place. At the end of the day, the interest on all our debts is now accruing at a faster rate than it can be paid down. Only time will tell how all this plays out. I don’t think it’s going to be necessary to store a 25 year supply of freeze dried foods, like some are saying on You Tube. Some serious prayer time would be a better substitute.
